Doriane’s first season in F1 Academy has been one of resilience and determination, a campaign in which she’s achieved eight podiums, five pole positions and three race victories, but also recovered from injury and overcome unfortunate penalties to finish second in the end-of-year standings.
Having taken the first pole of the year by a staggering eight-tenths, Doriane then convincingly won the opening race in Jeddah. She crossed the line first in an equally imperious Race 2, but was unaware the race had finished and completed another lap, subsequently earning a penalty that dropped her to ninth.
A pair of podiums in Miami followed, but in the gap between Rounds 2 and 3 the 20-year-old sustained fractured ribs and was still recovering when the championship arrived in Barcelona. The young French racer overcame her injuries – and a start line stall – to finish seventh in Race 1 and fifth in Race 2.
Now fully recovered, Doriane was back on the pace in the Netherlands crossing the line second in Race 1, before a jump-start penalty dropped her to fifth. Race 2 would yield her second race win of the season and the fastest lap of the race.
The challenging Marina Bay Street Circuit hosted Round 5, and another jump-start penalty wouldn’t be enough to deny Doriane two third-place finishes in Singapore.
Taking pole for both races in Qatar preceded victory and the fastest lap in Race 1. Unfortunately, before Doriane had the opportunity to do the double, the second race was cancelled teeing up a triple-header championship decider in Abu Dhabi.
At the season finale, Doriane capped off an excellent first season in single-seaters with an eighth podium of the campaign and another two top-five finishes, completing the year with 217 points to comfortably secure second in the championship.
At the end of the season, we finished as vice champions in F1 Academy, so I’m really happy with our first year with Prema in single seaters. Additionally, we are the team champions, which makes this achievement even more special.
I’m proud of the work we did with the team and the progress we made throughout the year. Thank you to Prema and, of course, to Iron Dames for their support from the very beginning. A big thanks as well to Mercedes for this first season together—it has been an absolute pleasure. Finally, thank you to everyone who followed this journey.
