The Iron Dames will take centre stage in Qatar at the end of February as they gear up to compete among the highest echelons of two sports that champion gender equality: motorsport and equestrianism.
The spotlight will be on the racing drivers competing in the team’s third World Endurance Championship season and, for the first time, female riders representing Iron Dames in the Longines Global Champions League, marking a significant milestone for women in sports.
Iron Dames Racing have already left a lasting mark on motorsport, with historic performances including the first victory by an all-female crew in the World Endurance Championship in Bahrain last November. Poised for another thrilling season, the iconic pink-wearing trio will comprise Sarah Bovy, Michelle Gatting, and Doriane Pin. Behind the wheel of the new Lamborghini Hurácan LMGT3 Evo 2, they aim to fight at the forefront of the class, striving to surpass the second-place finish in the championship standings in 2023.
Simultaneously, Iron Dames Equestrian, a new and ambitious chapter of Deborah Mayer’s expansive development project, will make its debut in Qatar. Under the banner of ‘Cannes Stars Powered By Iron Dames,’ Janne Friederike Meyer-Zimmerman, Sophie Hinners and Sanne Thijssen will be at the forefront of pioneering female excellence in the sport as the first-ever all-women team to compete in the prestigious Longines Global Champions League.
This double-header event in Qatar will also feature the inaugural ‘Meet the Iron Dames’ initiative. Focusing on women’s leadership and empowerment, the event will consist of high-level panel discussions spotlighting remarkable women who excel in traditionally male-dominated environments. Held on 28 February at the Qatar Olympic and Sport Museum, this inspirational moment will feature the participation of Iron Dames athletes, team leaders, as well as remarkable local figures and representatives from the FIA WEC and Longines Global Champions League.

These firsts in Qatar promises to be a defining moment for Iron Dames, and reinforces their commitment to pushing the boundaries of what women can achieve and empowering individuals across the globe in sports and beyond.
I am thrilled to embark on this new chapter with Iron Dames competing simultaneously in the FIA World endurance and the Longines Global Champions League, which both share the beauty of having women and men competing on equal terms and represent the pinnacle of their sports. Additionally, the launch of ‘Meet the Iron Dames’ represents another step forward in our mission to celebrating female excellence and to empower and inspire women across the globe. I am looking forward to sharing this first experience and encouraging our athletes to reach the top.
