IRON DAMES UNVEIL HISTORIC RALLY PROGRAMME FOR 2025, INCLUDING WRC PARTICIPATION

IRON DAMES UNVEIL HISTORIC RALLY PROGRAMME FOR 2025, INCLUDING WRC PARTICIPATION

Iron Dames is proud to announce an ambitious and innovative rally programme for the 2025 season. Building on the remarkable success of its first season, the Iron Dames rally team, led by driver Sarah Rumeau and co-driver Julie Amblard, is ready to take on new challenges with Citroën Racing and make history by taking a monumental step towards the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC).

A remarkable first season

As the first rally team under the Iron Dames banner, Sarah and Julie demonstrated skill, grit and consistency on tarmac and gravel to achieve the historic feat of becoming the first all-female team to finish in the top five in the French championship for 35 years, following Michele Mouton in 1979. These remarkable performances underline the potential of this pioneering duo and the successful and promising entry of the Iron Dames project into the world of rallying.

The 2025 programme: expanding horizons

For 2025, the Iron Dames have announced an extensive programme to enrich their experience and broaden their horizons.

• French Rally Championship (gravel and tarmac): Sarah and Julie will continue to compete on both surfaces, developing their versatility and expertise.

• FIA World Rally Championship: In a historic move, the Iron Dames crew will compete in seven rounds of the WRC, the first all-female team to do so since the legendary Michèle Mouton. They will be ready to make the leap into the WRC2 class from the first event of the season: the famous Monte Carlo Rally in January.

A supportive environment to reach new heights

In addition to the commitment of the Iron Dames project, Sarah and Julie can count on a very high-level environment, designed to give them the best possible conditions to continue to develop their potential at the highest level.

Sarrazin Motorsport at the heart of the project

Building on a proven partnership, the Iron Dames will continue to compete in 2025 with Sarrazin Motorsport, whose expertise was instrumental in Sarah and Julie’s successful debuts.

• The support of a new manufacturer: Citroën Racing

What’s more, in 2025, the Iron Dames team will take up the challenge of these three championships at the wheel of a C3 Rally2 with the support of a new manufacturer, Citroën Racing.

• The long-standing support of the FFSA

In 2023, the Fédération Française du Sport Automobile (FFSA) lent its support to Sarah and Julie, recognising their promising potential for the future by naming them ambassadors of its women’s plan.

This bold step represents a major milestone for women in motorsport and reaffirms the mission of the Iron Dames to inspire women to break barriers in all disciplines of racing.

We are so proud of what Sarah and Julie have achieved in just one year. Through their determination and talent, they embody the spirit of the Iron Dames and deserve this extraordinary 2025 programme. To see them follow in the footsteps of such a Grande Dame as Michèle Mouton is particularly moving. Their historic participation in the WRC is a great opportunity for them and for Iron Dames as a project that opens doors, sets standards and turns dreams into reality. Together with Sarrazin Motorsport, Citroën Racing and the FFSA, we are pushing the boundaries for women in rallying and paving the way for future generations to dream bigger and aim higher.

Deborah Mayer, Iron Dames Project Founder

2024 was a year of learning, we made progress on both gravel and tarmac. We finished the season fifth on asphalt and sixth on gravel. With a lot of competition, we managed to close the gaps and that’s really positive. Throughout the year we received a lot of advice from the Sarrazin Motorsport team, which enabled us to make a lot of progress. I can’t thank Deborah and the whole Iron Dames team enough for the confidence they have shown in us. It’s been an extraordinary year in four-wheel drive, surrounded by people who support us in the best possible way. It gives us a lot of strength to keep giving it our all. So now, we turn our faces toward 2025 with Citroën Racing and a new step forward internationally. It’s a continuing dream with all the team, and I am really proud of this.

Sarah Rumeau

2024 has been a year of discovery and I think we can be proud of what we have achieved thanks to our team Sarrazin Motorsport, thanks to the support of the whole Iron Dames family. It has been a great source of pride to be the first representatives of Iron Dames in the world of rallying. We’re very happy and excited to be opening a new chapter on the international stage in 2025 by competing in the World Championship, in WRC2 with Citroën Racing. Thanks again to the whole team for believing in us, believing in our dreams and supporting us to make these dreams come true.
