PROMISING PACE FOR ALMS TRIO IN DUBAI

The Iron Dames were back in action this weekend at the Dubai Autodrome. The Asian Le Mans Series GT line-up contested two four-hour races while Doriane Pin was at the wheel for the first time in 2025 in the Formula Regional Middle East Championship.

Although Célia Martin initially held 11th at the start of Saturday’s four-hour race, the GT field was frantic in the early stages, and she dropped to 14th in the first 30 minutes. Shortly after the halfway mark, red flags were waved for barrier repairs. Celia restarted 10th, but quickly rose to sixth with some of those ahead stalling on the grid and taking to the pit lane.

Sarah Bovy took over with an hour and 50 minutes to go, rejoining in seventh. Her hour-long stint saw her battling in the top ten, and eventually she handed over to Michelle Gatting for the final 45 minutes. Michelle came tantalisingly close to crossing the line inside the top 10, but a late pitstop in the final 10 minutes dropped the #85 car to 15th at the flag.

The second four-hour race on Sunday suffered a terminal blow just minutes after racing got underway. Contact in the opening exchanges and the subsequent damage forced Celia to spend several laps stationary in the garage. The Iron Dames trio never gave up, and set competitive lap times throughout the remainder of the race, but ultimately crossed the line 23rd.

TRACK RUN

Michelle Gatting, Sarah Bovy and Célia Martin got to grips with the Dubai Autodrome as they ran a lap of the circuit in preparation for the Asian Le Mans Series weekend.

“We’ve come to the end of a complicated weekend in Dubai. We knew it was going to be a difficult because of the challenging layout and changing conditions. We had a good race on Saturday, but lost time to a technical issue with the fuel. On Sunday we got off to a bad start when Celia had an incident with a spinning car in front of her. These things happen, but unfortunately the damage was done and we lost four laps fixing the car. After that we took the race as an opportunity to build up some experience and prepare for Abu Dhabi. We’ll be pushing for a better result next weekend.”
